TRAINER

TRAINER

WILSON ANG is the founder and President of the Environmental Challenge Organisation (Singapore), also known as ECO Singapore. The organisation was established on 7 January 2003. It has since expanded with an outreach of empowering more than 2,000 youths and educating up to 60,000 members of the public, all geared to doing their part to protect the environment. Though being involved in volunteer work since the age of 9 in various sectors, his awareness of the environment was elevated when he attended the ASEAN Youth Forum on the Environment in 2000. Subsequently, his trip to the United Nation’s World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg in 2002 inspired him to take on the path of the environment as the focus to make the world a better place.

Wilson is not only actively working on projects in a local sphere but has also been highly involved in the global youth environmental and climate change movement at an international spectrum. Some of his involvements include

1. The Singapore representative for the World Summit on Sustainable Development by the United Nations in September 2002

2. Forming and holding secretariat of the Asia Youth Environment Network (AYEN) in April 2004. The mission of AYEN is to establish a model example of sustainable development by young Asians.

4. A representative in the Singapore Youth Delegation for the Comission on Sustainable Development Conference in May 2006.

5. A representative of a non-governmental organization at the UNFCCC 14th Conference of Parties at Poznan, Poland in December 2008.

Due to Wilson’s extensive experience and level of expertise at a young age, he is often sought after as a trainer or speaker at high level youth events to educate other passionate youth about climate change issues as well as equip them with the skills they need to function as agents of change in their own communities. By engaging and interacting with his audience he is able to inspire young people to believe in their potential and harness the power of the youth spirit.
